This year the SMS Program Zona 3R (Reduce, Reuse,Recycle) evolved into an elective class, as a product of an original idea conceived by our alumna Laura Esquea Pagés. This allows the «3R Club» time and space for regular and organized meetings in order to develop and increase our school community´s awareness about the importance of caring for the Earth, its natural resources and overall environmental health..
The elective, which began its activities on Thursday August 28th with 15 students enrolled, is led by Mrs. Lucero Mañon, the Department of Formación Humana assistant, who has personally designed an interesting and dynamic program that will not only be directly beneficial to our environment but will also keep everyone involved pleasantly active and engaged.
We welcome and warmly congratulate the first group of students enrolled in this elective. A conscious group of youngsters that has taken a responsible step towards achieving the change in culture needed for a better world.
In collaboration with independent collectors, another one of our green initiatives is to collect recyclable items such as newspaper and plastic bottles that will later be sent to a recycling facility every single Friday to be repurposed.
Don’t forget to collect your recyclable items at home and bring them to school!
